Dr. Maya Rockeymoore Cummings is a scholar, entrepreneur, and fierce advocate for justice whose groundbreaking work spans policy, health equity, technology, and democracy reform. A former candidate for Congress, she is the founder of Global Policy Solutions, a social change strategy firm, and HyperVigilant, an AI-powered health tech company focused on eliminating disparities in hypertension diagnosis and treatment in underserved communities.
Armed with a Ph.D. in political science, Maya has advised national and global institutions—including the U.S. Congress, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the Ford Foundation—on strategies to confront economic, social, and health inequities. Across every platform, she leads with vision, systems thinking, and an unshakable commitment to advancing equity and human dignity.

Her father, an Air Force officer and serial entrepreneur, and her late mother, a civil servant and educator, instilled in her an unshakable work ethic and a lifelong commitment to uplifting others.
Maya’s journey has taken her from the halls of academia to the corridors of power in Washington, D.C. Armed with a Ph.D. in political science, she has worked on Capitol Hill, led national health equity initiatives, and advised leading foundations, policymakers, and government agencies on strategies to advance economic security, racial justice, and public health. As the founder of Global Policy Solutions, she built a nationally recognized social change firm tackling systemic disparities. Through her health tech venture, HyperVigilant, she is now harnessing the power of AI to close life-threatening gaps in hypertension care—particularly in underserved communities.
Across every chapter of her career, one truth became clear: Racism doesn’t just create inequality—it distorts how society values people at every stage of life.Black and brown children are too often criminalized instead of nurtured. Young adults are denied access to opportunity and wealth-building. Mid-career professionals face job and wage discrimination that damages health and stability. And far too many older adults are impoverished, isolated, and overlooked.
Maya’s life’s work is about confronting these patterns head-on—with strategy, heart, and unstoppable purpose. Whether she’s building bold ventures, crafting equitable policies, or speaking truth to power, she’s driven by a vision of a world where everyone is seen, valued, and free to thrive.

What is RAGEISM?
Maya’s groundbreaking book, RAGEISM: Racism, Ageism, and the Quest for Liberation Democracy, unveils the ways in which racism fuels ageism across the entire lifespan for Black and Brown communities. From premature criminalization in youth to employment discrimination in middle age and neglect in later years, RAGEISM exposes how racist structures deny entire generations of Black and Brown people the ability to thrive.
